We will tell you to stay put
A significant share of our reviews end with a recommendation to change nothing. We are compensated on enrollment, so that advice costs us money — which is exactly why it is worth something to you.

Most people arrive at insurance at a bad moment. They are turning 65 and the mail has become unmanageable. They have lost a job and the coverage with it. A parent has been diagnosed with something and nobody is sure what the plan actually covers. They are retiring and the question has changed from how much have I saved to what does this reliably pay me every month.
At exactly that moment, the industry sends them a mailer. Something with a deadline printed on it, from a company that has never seen their prescription list and has no idea who their cardiologist is.
This business is a reaction to that. The work is unglamorous and mostly consists of reading things carefully: network files, formularies, summaries of benefits, policy illustrations, Annual Notices of Change. Done properly, it takes an afternoon and saves people a great deal of money and a great deal of anxiety.
We are not employed by an insurance carrier. We hold appointments with several and recommend whichever fits, which means we can say the two things a captive agent structurally cannot: that company’s product is better for you than the one I would earn more on, and you should not change anything.
Both come up regularly. The second one comes up more than people expect.
The part everyone wonders about
Insurance premiums are filed with state regulators. The premium for a given plan is identical whether you enroll directly with the carrier, through a government exchange, or through a licensed independent broker. There is no broker markup, and there is no discount for going it alone.
Carriers pay brokers a commission that is already built into that filed premium. For Medicare products, those commission amounts are capped by federal regulation and are broadly similar across carriers — which removes most of the financial incentive to steer someone toward one company over another.
The practical consequence is the thing worth understanding: we are paid when you enroll in something, and paid nothing when the right answer is that your existing coverage is fine. We give that second answer often, and we would rather have a client for twenty years than a commission this month.
How we work
A significant share of our reviews end with a recommendation to change nothing. We are compensated on enrollment, so that advice costs us money — which is exactly why it is worth something to you.
Comparisons come as a document you keep and can think about for a week. Nothing gets decided on a phone call under pressure.
Adult children, a spouse, a friend who is good with paperwork. Nothing about this should require you to sign something you have not fully understood.
Enrollment season is a few months. Claims problems, tier changes, employer coverage ending and life insurance questions happen all year. So do we.
Credentials
Every line below is something you can check. We do not publish awards nobody audits or client counts nobody verifies.
What you get
We are not employed by a carrier, so we are not talking you into one company’s product. We shop the market and show you the trade-offs.
Our compensation comes from the carrier you choose. Your premium is the same whether you enroll with us or on your own — you just get an advocate.
Based in Marlborough, Massachusetts and licensed nationwide. Every appointment is by phone or video, so it makes no difference where you live.
No scripts, no scare tactics, no “this offer expires today.” You get a clear recommendation and the reasoning behind it, then you decide.

It means we are not employed by any single insurance carrier and are not required to place business with one. We hold appointments with multiple carriers and recommend whichever fits your situation. A captive agent works for one company and can only offer that company’s products.
By the insurance carrier, as a commission on the policy you choose. You pay us nothing directly, and your premium is identical whether you use a broker or not. For Medicare products, commission amounts are capped by federal regulation — which removes most of the incentive to steer clients toward higher-paying products.
No. We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we do not generate leads for anyone else. If you ask us not to contact you again, that is the end of it.
Appointments vary by state and by product line, and we will tell you exactly which carriers we can place for you before we start. We will also tell you plainly when something material sits outside our appointments so you can look at it yourself on Medicare.gov or your state Marketplace.
